Ruidoso, New Mexico, a small mountain community, is no stranger to tragedy. Last year, a wildfire rampaged through the community, burning tens of thousands of acres. Now, Ruidoso is reeling from another disaster.

Monsoon-level rains overwhelmed the Rio Ruidoso and set into motion flash flooding that swept three people away and left behind a trail of broken tree limbs, crumpled cars, and muddy debris.

“We’re just trying to recover from last year, and man, here we go again,” Barbara Arthur, an RV park owner and Ruidoso resident, told the Associated Press. “It’s going to be a long road, and I have no doubt that, you know, everybody’s going to pull together and get it done. But I may not be one of them.”

But hope is on the way. Convoy of Hope is en route to the area with relief supplies — food, water, cleaning supplies, and other essential products that will meet the basic daily needs of people and families in need.
